What Do We Do Now?

The earth is changing, and lately we've been noticing it more than ever before. It has become a top political issue, making headlines across the world, political parties are re-vamping their platforms to meet the new environmentally-charged demands of a concerned population. Companies are fighting to catch up with the sudden stronger demand for more sustainable vehicles, housing and consumables. Global warming, logging and forestry regulations, conservation and Landfill space are topics that are on the minds and in the mouths of many Canadians.

Changes are being made, yes, but is it enough? There are still debates locally over whether to increase the amount of pesticides being used on government property, the compressed piles of plastic bags that are accumulating at the dump and even at the recycling plant,  there is nowhere to send them, Businesses still have no easy way of sending waste to the recycling, so instead tons of plastics and metals are being sent to the garbage pile, and the fast-food industry continues to progress ever-so- slowly towards a more environmentally friendly way of business.

Big differences are made in small communities by people who get together to stand up for what is right. Muskoka Sustainability Coalition is a growing group of action-oriented individuals who are ready to stand up for the environment, community, and a sustainable Muskoka.
