Muskoka's many museums are a vibrant testimony to this district's rich and varied history. A visit to any one of them evokes memories of bygone eras and brings the past alive.

Board the Portage Flyer at Muskoka Heritage Place in Huntsville or peek into the Segwun steamship's museum on Muskoka Bay for a taste of the era of Steam. Examine the fine details of the wooden boat replicas -- custom 'classic launches', 'runabouts' 'dippys' and others  -- and view some full-size originals on display in the Muskoka Lakes Museum beside the locks in Port Carling.

Learn about Norman Bethune's incredible medical accomplishments at the Bethune House in Gravenhurst, explore the nooks and crannies of William Bird's octagon shaped Woodchester Villa in Bracebridge, or discover something about the Anne of Green Gables Muskoka connection at Bala's Museum.

Plan a 1/2 day or more for each and discover more of Muskoka at her museums.
