The R.M.S. Segwun is the oldest fully operational steamship in North America. Touring lakes Muskoka and Rosseau she offers sightseeing, specialty and dinner cruises from June through Thanksgiving. Her dockside home, Sagamo Park, includes a steamship era museum, a local artists gallery, a weekly farmer's market and the Wanda III a private steam yacht on display. Sagamo park also hosts the Antique and Classic Boat Show in midsummer, when polished mahogany launches and other fine, old watercraft are proudly displayed. On Gravenhurst's other lake, smaller Gull Lake, Music on the Barge is featured each Sunday evening all summer long. The shoreline provides a gentle sloping grass area for all to view, listen to the variety of talented musicians of all kinds Dixie, Big Band, Orchestra, and others. The town's main street boasts dozens of unique shops and boutiques, and now has five in a series of 12 wall murals called "Picture Our Heritage". Painted on the side wall of buildings, they recapture the era when Gravenhurst was busy lumbering, railroad and steamship centre. Also located on the main street is the Gravenhurst Opera house, home to professional live theatre -- the Muskoka Festival. This historic landmark has recently completed extensive renovations making it a venue for year-round performances and entertainment. Bethune Memorial House is another well-known restored building and the birthplace of Dr. Norman Bethune. Operated by Parks Canada it has been restored to the time of his birth, circa 1890. All winter Gravenhurst provides first class cross - country skiing and some of the best snowmobiling in the province. Whatever the season there are lots of reasons to stop at Gravenhurst for a visit
