Pampered in Port Sydney: Trillium Resort and Spa the perfect getaway by Kim Kerr

Think of Muskoka, and you’ll undoubtedly picture a place shaped by nature, a rugged beauty carved from the Canadian Shield over thousands of years by extremes of hot and cold weather. For decades, it’s been a place people have travelled to in order to get away from the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives, a chance to find a little piece of heaven, if only for a weekend at a time.

One little piece of heaven that’s well worth a visit -- even if only for a few hours -- is The Trillium Resort and Spa, a gem of a place tucked away in a quiet corner of Muskoka just minutes from Port Sydney. The folks at Trillium, set amidst 86 acres of untouched forests of towering hardwoods and evergreens and overlooking its own private lake and waterfall, seem to have perfected the concept of relaxation.

Not only does Trillium offer many of the activities found in most Muskokan retreats – of canoeing, windsurfing, mountain biking and tennis court -- it takes the concept of relaxation a step further, offering a wide variety of spa-related services. Better still, all of the property’s treatment rooms afford beautiful views – little wonder, then, that Leisureways Magazine named Trillium the "Best Place to Get a Massage".

As one of Trillium’s pampered guests, you’re invited to use all the resort facilities, including its fitness centre, tennis court, outdoor pool, sauna and whirlpool, as well as its indoor steam room and whirlpool.
