Grant
and Sharon Watkinson, owners of Shorline Construction, have
worked hard over the past 11 years to make their business
one of the foremost builders in Muskoka, and can boast of
many satisfied customers.
“We have completed 18
new construction projects and 10 renovations during that
time,” wife and business partner Sharon says proudly.
“People ask
specifically for Grant when they are considering a building
project,” she states of her husband’s workmanship.
“One year we worked on three cottages side-by-side on Lake
Joseph,” she says, explaining that the one neighbour just
recommended Grant to the other.
Though Grant works mainly
on Lake Joseph, he has done work all over Muskoka, working
on both new construction and renovation projects, such as
finishing the interior of a cottage for a customer in the
village of Rosseau.
Grant’s 20 plus years
of construction experience shows throughout his work.
“He has eye for detail,
and a knack for doing trim and the finish work,” Sharon
says. “The architect of one of the boat house projects
Grant worked on made just the preliminary plans, leaving the
rest to Grant to finish. He knew Grant would take care of
it. Grant looked after all of the details
-- the arches, the gingerbread, the deck railings,
everything,” says Sharon.
He has worked on a number
of boathouses. “In 2000 he worked on a 9,000 square foot
cottage and boathouse simultaneously,” Sharon explains,
continuing, “there was a lot of interior detail, with
handmade pine trim throughout. Grant got the job done within
the one year guideline specified by the owner,” says
Sharon, pointing out that Grant “delivers quality work and
works to timelines.”
Another project involved
renovating a large cottage, plus building a boathouse for
the owner within the same year.
