Back
then, if you wanted to vacation at the family cottage or one
of the region’s top resorts, the only means of getting
there was aboard one of the many steamers that plied the
region’s lakes.
Thanks to the Muskoka Lakes Navigation and Hotel
Company, anyone looking to experience the thrill of docking
at a classic resort aboard a steamer can now do so. The
company’s unique overnight excursions aboard RMS
Segwun, an elegantly refitted treasure from the glorious
steamship era (and the oldest steamship still in operation
in North America) will take you on a stylish cruise into the
heart of Ontario’s prime vaction land.
Meeting the Segwun
on Gravenhurst Bay, you’ll sail across Lake Muskoka
through the Port Carling Lock and into Lakes Rousseau and
Joseph. As well as the spectacular scenery, you'll be
treated to excellent on-board meals and entertainment,
including a steamship-style casino.
The Segwun
will then drop you off at one of Muskoka's finest vacation
spots --Cleveland’s House or Windermere House -- for an
afternoon of rest and relaxation, where you’ll be treated
to an exclusive cooking lesson from one of the resort’s
first-class chefs before settling down for an elegant sleep
over.
For the first time, two of the four Overnight Cruises will
be extended to give passengers an opportunity to experience
both Cleveland’s House and Windermere House.
An added bonus for those participating in this unique
program, says Sales Manager Cathy Tait, is an “invitation
to visit one of the grandest summer homes on the Muskoka
Lakes. This property has never before been open for private
viewing!”
