The
Christmas season would not be complete without the annual
Santa Claus Parade. The clowns and the floats with Christmas
carolers and the marching bands playing Christmas tunes,
along with the last float featuring the Jolly Old Elf
himself, are as much a part of the Christmas season as the
gift giving.
Muskoka
plays host to a number of such events, with the majority
being held in late November or early December. Each year
sees a different theme, such as this year’s Gravenhurst
parade featuring a Pioneer Christmas.
The Shriners are usually in attendance, as are most other
service clubs. Dignitaries are part of the procession, along
with various children’s clubs and community organizations.
Even the horses and dogs get in the act sometimes. Most
parades offer hot chocolate and hot dogs after the event,
while some present a chance to visit with Santa before or
afterwards.
Weather
doesn’t make a difference – it’s all part of the big
event. Check the list below and plan on attending or even
helping out at a Santa Claus parade in Muskoka this year.
