ProActive Rehab and Sport Injury Centre offers unique services
by Kim Kerr

It can happen to the fittest of us: We over do it at the gym, perhaps take a tumble on the ice or maybe even receive an injury at work. Whatever the case, pain hurts… and so can the recovery process.

Fortunately for us, when an injury does rear its ugly head there are plenty of well-trained and qualified people to help get us back on our feet. Take the folks at ProActive Rehab and Sport Injury Centre as a case in hand. Specialists all, the staff at ProActive (formerly Huntsville Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre) are committed to providing effective, timely assessment and treatment of all types of injuries, including: lower back pain and neck pain headaches; joint sprains; muscle strains; repetitive strain injuries; reconditioning post injury or surgery; muscle imbalance, and many others.

Having recently moved into larger premises – the company in fact doubled its clinical space to 3,000 sq. ft. and added a bank of offices and private rooms – ProActive is better equipped than ever to treat its clients. Its qualified physiotherapists are highly trained registered health professionals able to detect and treat the underlying cause of their clients’ problems. Techniques employed include ultrasound, interferential current, ice and heat, stretching, strengthening, mobilizing, muscle stimulation, re-training, and manual therapy.

Highly trained staff

And believe me, these folks know their stuff. Before being able to practice their trade, physiotherapists must complete a minimum of four years of training at university level in order to get their Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (BSP). Practical training consists of 35 weeks of clinical placement and is followed by examination prior to the awarding of a license.

ProActive offers a wide variety of other services, too, including massage, occupational therapy, custom orthotics, braces and supports. On-site facilities include:

· Washroom with shower and changing facilities

· Private assessment and treatment room

· Private massage therapy room

· Ultrasound - Inferential Current - T.N.S.

· Moist heat and ice

· Pulley system, free weights, universal gym

· Cardio equipment

· Work simulation and functional training

Specialist programs are also available, including ProActive’s unique Fit for Golf program, and workshops are offered to a variety of athletic and sporting groups.
