Muskoka Travel Service offering  memorable group travel trips

Talking with Sue Dean at the Muskoka Travel Service about travel is infectious. Her enthusiasm about the various trips she is planning or has taken is hard to resist. Whether it is a day trip to the nearby Haliburton Forest for a ‘Walk in the Clouds’ or the upcoming trip to Newfoundland this summer, Sue loves to share her experiences and expertly work out all of the details to make the trips memorable.

The Muskoka Travel Service has been offering group travel trips for over 30 years. Using state-of-the-art Hammond Transportation motorcoaches, all of which are climate controlled and washroom equipped, with high windows allowing an excellent view of all the scenery, Muskoka Travel Service provides friendly drivers and tour escorts, and takes care of all the arrangements to ensure an enjoyable holiday.

The list of trips planned for this year is a long and interesting one, with everything from day trips to Toronto for live theatre and dinner out afterwards, to shopping excursions at favourite malls, to attending live tapings of popular TV shows, such as The Canadian Air Farce daytrip in April, and the Cityline Show in February.

“People can come with requests for trips they would like us to do and we’ll put together a package and offer it to see what the interest is like”, states Sue. She also plans many of the local Senior’s Centres’ trips, including 2 and 3-day trips to places such as Kingston, Manitoulan Island or the Niagara region. “They are very specific about what they want to see and do and which restaurant they’d like to try,” says Sue, who also arranges specialized trips for local clubs, such as the Horticultural Club’s trip to The Royal Botanical gardens in Hamilton.

Sue is quick to emphasize that these trips are not just for seniors. “We have some soft adventure tours planned this summer, including Whitewater Rafting on the Ottawa River, as well as family trips for kids with parents and grandparents to the African Lion safari and the Toronto Science Centre.”

“We are also planning local trips in the area again this fall, including colour tours and trips in conjunction with the new Wenonah II steamship,” adds Sue.

A sample of some planned day –trips with the Muskoka Travel Service this year include

A daytrip to the Sportsmans Show on March 9th, the St. Paddy's Day Show in Hamilton March 11,  Disney on Ice on March 15, and Stage West - Joseph & the Technicolour on May 9th. Overnight trips include the Ottawa Tulip Festival on May 11 – 13, and Frankenmuth & Mackinac Island trip May 28-31.
