Hidden Valley's new Movenpick Restaurant a Gastronomic delight

The recently opened Movenpick restaurant at Hidden Valley Holiday Inn in Huntsville is the first Movenpick restaurant in a hotel setting in North America. Well known the world over for their superb, mainly French cuisine, Movenpick restaurants have become increasingly popular in North America. Hidden Valley in Muskoka is pleased to have it as part of their new multi-million dollar expansion.

Hidden Valley’s Bistretto-style Movenpick boasts three separate areas - the restaurant itself, serving the typical Parisian bistro fare and Movenpick "signature" dishes, the cozy Auberge bar and lounge area, which includes a fireplace, and also serves the full Bistretto menu, and La Pergola - an indoor/outdoor courtyard in a Mediterranean style with a patio and new wrap around deck overlooking Peninsula lake.

Combined with Muskoka’s natural setting, Movenpick’s superb menu makes for a dining experience second to none.

Some examples of their delicious fare include Steak et frites (broiled sirloin glazed with Cafe de Paris butter, served with "allumette" fries) and Poulet et frites - juicy and tender marinated chicken thighs glazed with herb butter. Chicken (fresh, air-chilled, not frozen chicken) is offered throughout the menu in a variety of forms, including Le poulet Aix-en-Provene  -- chicken breast sauteed with onions, tomates, garlic and fresh herbs. Though primarily French the cuisine of Bistretto offers a number of Italian dishes and doesn’t overlook Movenpick's Swiss heritage.

Their rich desserts attest to this, with such Movenpick classics as Homemade Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce, Swiss Chocolate Truffle Cake, Crepes Parisiennes and Belgian Waffles. Or go all out and feast on their Chocolate Eruption Tower Cheesecake.  Movenpick also features 20 different flavours of their own internationally renowned Super Premium Ice Creams.

If you are into breakfast Movenpick is a must, with both an a la carte menu and an extensive buffet. Try the Rosti potatoes, one of their Movenpick signature dishes, along with bacon, ham, sausage, cheese and fresh herbs. All are featured at the breakfast egg station, where the chef prepares double yolk eggs or a custom omelet to your order.

Breakfast becomes an all day affair at Movenpick, with fresh-baked muffins and pastries, juices and premium coffees available throughout the day in the hotel lobby.

Their special kids menu includes Movenpick’s own Big Bird's Chicken Basket, Pasta Mountain and the Superhero Burger. Other kid’s items include downsized breakfast dishes, and special desserts.

Since opening the restaurant has become a big draw, not only with the guests but also with the local community. Not too surprising, considering the quality and variety of food offered, the affordable menu -- almost every item on the main menu is under $15 and most are under $10 – and the beautiful Muskoka setting.
