"Music on the Barge", enjoying Sunday night concerts in Gull Lake Park

Held at Gull lake Park in Gravenhurst each Sunday commencing at 7:30 p.m. "Barge" concerts are a time honored tradition dating back to 1949. Prior to 1949, the roots of this tradition had been established at the band shell located at the Gull Lake site. The present, permanent structure was completed just in time for queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip to attend its' official opening concert on July 4th, 1949. Today, the sounds emerging from "Music on the Barge" range from the big band sound, to Dixieland, jazz, folk, the music on the 50's and 60's and today's country.

Fred Schulz, Director of the Music series, says, "It's always great to see the support from our summer and local residents at the Sunday night concerts. "Music on the Barge" concerts are an important part of the summer in Gravenhurst and Muskoka".

"Music on the Barge" is an entertainment landmark, providing a unique evening of Sunday night entertainment during the summer months. In addition to the regularly scheduled Sunday evening performances, "Music on the Barge" will also be presenting some Sunday afternoon performances to be announced shortly.
