Miss Canada International is visiting Muskoka this weekend

 

Miss Canada International is visiting Muskoka. Meghan Williams, crowned Miss Canada International 2004, will be officially visiting in Muskoka from Friday, October 17th to Sunday October 19th. She will attend a couple of fund-raisers, and tour the Cranberry Festival in Bala.

  A native of White Rock, B.C., and Miss Vancouver 2004, Meghan was crowned Miss Canada International 2004 on Saturday August 16th at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre, amongst the state of emergency placed on the city due to the blackout.

  The 20-year-old, 5’10” blonde is a 3rd year university student at Waterloo University, majoring in political science and history.  Meghan is a 2001 Royal Canadian Military Debutante, very interested in Canadian politics.  Her dream is to one day be the Governor General of Canada.

  An avid dancer for the past 17 years, Meghan now teaches dance to young girls. She is bilingual in French and studying Russian.  Charities close to her heart are Alzheimer’s and Big Sisters.

  On October 17th, at 9:30 am, Meghan will arrive in Gravenhurst, stopping at
Gravenhurst Public School. She’ll then leave for Bracebridge, where she will attend the Rotary Luncheon and give a 5-minute talk.  After the luncheon she will be visiting the Bracebridge Public School.

  Friday evening will see Meghan attending the Girl Guide Fundraising Spaghetti dinner at the Rotary Centre from 5:30 – 7pm. Tickets for the event are $6 per adult and $4 per child. The dinner will help raise funds to send the group of Girl Guides to Mexico, where they will be helping out at an orphanage and a senior’s home.  The girls have been fund-raising for over a year to make this trip.

After the dinner Meghan will be traveling to Bala to participate in the opening ceremonies of the Bala Cranberry Festival. She will then go back to the Inn at the Falls
in Bracebridge, where she will stay for the night.
 Saturday, October 18th Meghan will spend the day at the Cranberry Festival, including touring the Johnston's Cranberry Marsh. She will leave the Festival Saturday evening to go to Base Borden to participate in the GI Jane event at the base with Girl Guides in the area, and staying at Base Borden overnight.

  She’ll then travel back to Muskoka for a final visit, attending the Mayor's Tea, held at the Seniors centre at 2 pm in Bracebridge.
