Lady of the lakes: See the fall colours aboard Lady Muskoka by Kim Kerr

One of the best ways to view the splendor of Muskoka’s fall colours is undoubtedly from the water.

While Gravenhurst has the classic steamship RMS Segwun, Bracebridge boasts a classic of its own – the Lady Muskoka. While not as old as the Segwun, the Lady Muskoka has been cruising Lake Muskoka for many years and offers a degree of comfort that sets it apart from most other similar cruise ships. Indeed, the ship measures a sizable 104 feet in length, is 24 feet wide, carries 300 passengers and is carpeted throughout. Food and bar services are available, ranging from snacks to a variety of three course meals. And if you tire of watching the magnificent Muskoka scenery drift by as you stand on deck, you can rest comfortably on one of the ship’s two fully enclosed lounges. (The third deck offers a quiet panoramic view of your journey.

A visit to the Lady Muskoka website (www.ladymuskoka.com) offers an excellent “armchair” description of the ship’s 2 ˝ hour Millionaire’s Row voyage, complete with photos and running commentary.

Costs for the 2 ˝ hour Millionaire’s Row cruise are:

Adults  -- Cruise alone, $15; Cruise and brunch, $25; Cruise and dinner, $35

Seniors -- Cruise alone, $14; Cruise and brunch, $24; Cruise and dinner, $34

Kids -- Cruise alone, $7.50; Cruise and brunch, $12.50; Cruise and dinner, $17.50

Continue on Hwy 11 past Gravenhurst ( approx. 10 km) and take Hwy 118 West, exiting to Bracebridge for 4.5 km to the lights at Ecclestone Dr. Turn right, then almost immediately left into the parking lot of Muskoka Riverside Inn.
