Business and Industry
Business of horses at Hopeful Farms

In early 2003, Ken and Jaymi Randall decided it was time to start their own breeding, boarding, training, and horse sales business in Muskoka. Ken has years of experience with horses, as well as horses in his family background -- his grandfather Bobby Bateman, was the trainer of “He’s a Smoothie”, the thoroughbred horse of the year in 1967. Jaymi also has years of experience in training horses, and has recently ventured into the world for Eventing. Jaymi, too, has horses in her family background, with her grandfather working as a teamster. She is carrying on the family tradition, being the only one left in her family who raises horses. Together Jaymi and Ken offer the skills and knowledge to provide a comfortable and convenient facility for both people and horses to enjoy.

Knowing the industry inside and out, Ken and Jaymi understand what people want out of an equestrian facility and also what people are looking for in the horses that they buy. The horses at Hopeful Farms are only the best.  Because of that they are given only top quality grain and hay to ensure that they possess the weight and energy they need to perform to their best ability. Hopeful Farms also offers specially selected Thoroughbred, Trakehner, Hanoverian, and other quality warmbloods for sale all year round. And they can help you find the “horse of your dreams”.

The facilities at Hopeful Farms include a sixty by one hundred and twenty, outdoor sand ring, as well as a newly completed twelve stall barn. For boarders they offer individual turnout, or group turnout. Running across the property is the Trans Canada Trail, with miles and miles of wide horse friendly paths for hours of enjoyable hacking. In the fall of 2004, Ken and Jaymi plan to erect a sixty by one hundred and twenty “Cover All” indoor arena. Their intent is to provide a full service equine facility to those who live in Muskoka year round, and those who call it their summer home.
