Custom framing places in Muskoka 

 

You have received a beautiful piece of signed art for Christmas, (or a gorgeous photo of the kids/grandkids, etc.) and need it framed – where to go? Muskoka boasts a number of custom framing shops located throughout the region.

  Located on Bracebridge’s main drag of Manitoba Street, Martin’s Framing Centre offers a complete custom framing service. Choose from their wide choice of frames and mats, and let owner Jim Burns and his staff professionally frame your prized possession. The store itself is a visual delight, with many local artists work intermixed with the well-known works of such artists as James Lumbers. 

  Scott’s of Muskoka is also located on Manitoba Street in Bracebridge. While not doing as much custom work as they did at one time Scott’s still offers the service. Something of an icon in town, Scott’s is best known as a ‘headquarters for Muskoka Art’ Over 30 Muskoka artists’ work, including paintings, sculptures and pottery, are featured on 3 floors. D.A. Dunford prints and posters are available, along with prints of Robert Emerson Everett colourful works, and a wide assortment of steamship paintings and prints. Scott’s also carries a complete assortment of cottage country books, Muskoka maps, and “the largest selection of books on Muskoka found anywhere”.

  Huntsville’s Framing Place also features many Muskoka artists, as well as a large selection of  Tom Thomson and the Group Of Seven, including A.J.Casson, A.Y.Jackson, Arthur Lismer, F.H.Varley, Franklin Carmichael, J.E.H.MacDonald, Lawren Harris. Other artists with similar work -- Frank Johnston, David Milne, Emily Carr – are also featured, along with a selection of ‘Algonquin Park’ art.

  Located on King William Street right in downtown Huntsville, the Framing Place also does custom framing of all kinds.  Their Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven gallery not only offers “beautifully framed prints of their legendary work” but also has on view “the enhanced prints in five different framing styles or just on their own”.

  But they also offer many framing options. If you have something unusual you want framed they have experience framing awards and mementos of all kinds, as well as a variety of objects, including car parts, swords, coins, jewelry and musical instruments.
