Bangor Lodge - a family owned resort on Lake Muskoka

When R.J. Siberry came to Canada from his native Ireland in the early 1900's, he built "Goldenview Cottage" on Lake Muskoka for his family to enjoy. From there he often sat on the verandah dreaming of building a guest house which he could use to entertain his friends and share with them the beauty of Muskoka. His dream came true in 1930 when he built the Main Lodge. He named his guesthouse, Bangor Lodge, after Bangor, Ireland, where he spent his holidays back in his homeland. In 1948, George Siberry, one of RJ's brothers owned the lodge until 1969 when their nephew Ken Siberry took over. Today, Bangor Lodge is managed by David Siberry, son of Ken and Jean Siberry.

Located on Lake Muskoka approximately 6 kilometres west of Bracebridge on Golden Beach Road, Bangor Lodge is open June to Labour Day for you and your friends to enjoy the beauty of Muskoka.

Lounge at the beach or beside the heated outdoor pool, or try a variety of resort activities – tennis, shuffleboard, horseshoes and water sports. Learn to ski, go canoeing, boating, tubing, fishing or enjoy a refreshing dip in Lake Muskoka at Bangor’s waterfront. Take in a round of golf on their own par 34 course. Bangor’s Pro Shop opens at 7am each morning for complimentary coffee and muffins. A number of Fun Guest Tournaments are run each week for guests.  Muskoka Highlands Golf course is also available nearby.

The children’s program at Bangor is designed to keep the 3 to 10 years active at a supervised program that includes crafts, games, quiet time, entertainers and sports activities. For the 9 to 13 year old there is a sports program with instruction through the week that ends with Tournaments with trophies and ribbons being awarded at the Friday Night Awards Assembly. Santa’s Village is also just down the road.

More entertainment is available at Bangor’s Pavilion, with such programs as dancing, special games nights, entertainers and a Staff Guest Variety show. Or try a day cruise on the Lakes on the RMS Segwun of the Lady Muskoka. Both of these shops are just a short drive away.

The Bangor Lodge dining room is located in the main Lodge and overlooks Lake Muskoka. Famous for hip of beef buffet, steaks, spare ribs, turkey, ham, chicken, prime rib of beef, seafood and salad bar, qualified chefs prepare all food in the Bangor kitchen, including the rolls, bread and desserts.

Accommodation consists a variety of rooms, villas and housekeeping cottages. All rooms have wall-to-wall broadloom, electric heating and mini refrigerators, and some include air conditioning. Villas 16 and 17 are located where R.J. Siberry first built Goldenview Cottage. He’d be pleased to know there are guests at Bangor enjoying the beauty of Muskoka.
