Have
you ever wondered what it would be like to leap from a tall
building, confront your personal ghosts on a Himalayan peak or
not let the fact that you were born with no legs prevent you
from becoming a champion ski racer? You can get a taste of
these wild mountain adventures, and more, when this year’s
Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour rolls into Huntsville
on Thursday, January 23, 2003. Showtime is at 7 pm at the
Delta Grandview Resort’s Recreation Centre.
For the last five years,
Algonquin Outfitters has hosted this spectacular showing of
mountain films in Huntsville. After moving the event to
Grandview last year, the capacity crowd set a new attendance
record. Grandview’s “Rec Center” has been the setting
for many Huntsville Festival of the Arts concerts and offers
comfortable seating, easy access, excellent sound and a big
screen.
Films
in this year's tour bring the spirit of adventure to life on
the screen. A wide variety of stories - from mountain sports,
mountain culture and the environment - will entice and inspire
viewers. Get a taste of mountain adventure from around the
world; the tour's lineup includes films from Canada, the
United States, Poland, Norway, Slovakia, the United Kingdom,
Europe and Australia.
The
Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is produced by
Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre. The tour includes
award-winning films from the Banff Mountain Film Festival, an
annual event held in early November at The Banff Centre in
Banff, Alberta. This year 263 entries from 31 countries were
in competition.
The world tour spans the globe,
making its way to North and South America, Europe, South
Africa, India, Poland and Iceland. Experience the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour with
Algonquin Outfitters at the Delta Grandview Resort on January
23, 2003 at 7 pm.
