Muskoka Lakes Museum Opens for 2006

The Muskoka Lakes Museum is now open for the season. After a banner year in 2005, thanks to the efforts of some very dedicated volunteers, the Museum is positioned to build on this success and add some new programs and exhibits for the 2006 season. Look for some new temporary exhibits on a variety of topics, starting with a display of photos from the Sandy Bay Stock Farm near Rosseau.

The 2006 season promises to be an exciting one. Some of our upcoming events include:

  • June 4 – Victorian Tea members’ reception

  • July 3 – Weekly children’s programs and adult lecture series resume

  • July 8 – Booth at the Antique and Classic Boat Society Show, Gravenhurst

  • August 9 – Second Steeplechase church tour

  • August 12 – Port Carling Boat Show

The very popular children’s program will be offered every Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 pm in July and August. If you want to pre-register your children please call or e-mail, or sign-up at the front desk.

The Catto Gallery has a full slate of shows starting with photographer Andrew Collett June 4th

We will once again be running the adult lecture series every Wednesday at 7:30 pm at the museum. Some of the speakers include local author Jack Hutton talking about a new book he is working on about our national anthem; award winning architect Kevin Crozier discussing some of his Muskoka projects; wildlife photographer Eleanor Kee-Wellman; and antique appraiser Bob Britnell, speaking in conjunction with an ‘Antiques Roadshow’ event at the museum in August.

Programs, hours, and events are regularly updated on our website at www.muskoka.com/tourism/mlm.

Be sure to come and visit us in 2006!
